- 500 ml (2 cups) water
- 2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, sliced (optional) Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (with the mother)
Instructions
- 1. Bring 500 ml of water to a boil in a saucepan. If using ginger, add it during this step.
- 2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of dried butterfly pea flowers. Steep for 10 minutes.
- 3. Strain the liquid to remove flowers, or leave them in if preferred.
- 4. Add 1 teaspoon honey, juice of 1 lemon, and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. Stir to combine.
- 5. Watch the color shift from blue to purple as you stir. 6. Serve warm immediately, or let cool and pour over ice for a refreshing cold version.
Notes
- This recipe makes 2 servings.
- You can add 1 teaspoon honey per cup.
- I personally prefer 1/2 teaspoon. Use raw apple cider vinegar with the mother for full benefits.
- Store in the refrigerator in a sealed glass jar for up to 3 days.
